A launch announcement fails when the news is buried or the facts cannot be checked. This template follows the inverted pyramid: headline and embargo first, then availability and price, a named customer quote, and a boilerplate with a media contact, all on one page.
The sample announces Foldline, a fictional layout tool from Lindenhurst Creative, with a 6 April 2027 launch, a price of £29 per seat per month, a 35% speed claim and a customer quote. Replace the headline, dateline, figures, quote and contact with your own, and have approvers check every claim.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Rewrite the headline so it states the news, then replace the dateline, city, release date and embargo time with yours.
Replace the numbers with figures you can verify, and write a customer quote that the named person has approved.
Update the boilerplate and put a mobile number and email on the contact line that you will answer.
Delete the guide page, then share the release or export it as a PDF for journalists.
Aim for 300 to 500 words, with a lead paragraph that answers who, what, when, where and why, and three to five numbers that a journalist can verify.
Yes, if you brief journalists early. State the time and the time zone, as the sample does, so no one publishes before you intend them to.
No. Lindenhurst Creative, Foldline, the customer, the contact and every figure are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own before sending anything.
