Most startup funding announcements bury the news under company history and fill the quotes with marketing copy. This press release template puts the news first: a headline that states the round, an embargo line, the key numbers, the investors, how the money will be used, a named quote and a boilerplate with a contact who will actually answer.
The sample announces a fictional £6M Series A for Alderbrook Collective, a Manchester startup whose forecasting software helps 1,200 independent grocers cut waste by 35%. It shows how to write the embargo, attribute every claim, split the use of funds and finish with a boilerplate under 90 words. Replace the headline, dateline, numbers and quotes with your own, and have your spokesperson approve every word.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Rewrite the headline so it states the news, then replace the dateline, city, release date and embargo line.
Write quotes your named spokesperson would actually say, and have them approved before anything is sent.
Update the boilerplate to your current facts, delete outdated awards, and add a mobile number and email you will answer.
Delete the Make it yours page, then share the release with your press list.
Yes. Make a copy to your own Google Drive and edit it. It is a single page of copy, so it also pastes cleanly into an email or a newsroom page.
No. The organisation, the people, the investors, the email addresses and every figure are fictional sample content. Replace them with your own news.
Aim for 300 to 500 words, with the news in the first 30 to 45 words. Journalists read the headline, the first paragraph and the contact line first.
