FreeCareer templates help you apply with a clean, professional document, whether it is your first job or your next senior role.
A hiring manager often decides in seconds whether to keep reading. These resumes, CVs and cover letters put your strongest points first, and they come in plain layouts for online application systems as well as more designed ones.
There are resume templates for every stage of a career: a first job resume, a high school or college student resume, an internship resume and an entry-level resume with no experience, through mid-career, manager, director and executive resumes. Career changers and people returning to work have layouts that lead with skills instead of dates.
Many resumes are written for a specific job, so the sample text already uses the right words for the role: nurse, teacher, accountant, software engineer, data analyst, project manager, customer service, retail, warehouse, electrician and dozens more. Replace the sample with your own experience and keep the structure.
Pick the format before the design. A chronological resume suits a steady career, a functional resume puts skills first, and a combination resume does both. If you apply through job boards, choose an ATS-friendly resume with a single column and plain headings, so applicant tracking systems read it correctly.
Pair every application with a cover letter. There are cover letters for graduates, career changers and executives, plus modern and simple designs that match the resumes. For academic and international roles, use a CV: academic, graduate, modern, simple and two-column CV templates are all included.
This category holds 126 templates for Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word, 1 to 5 pages long.
In the US and Canada, a resume is a short summary of one or two pages, while a CV is a longer academic record. In the UK and much of Europe, CV is the everyday word for the short version.
The single-column layouts are the safest choice for online applications. Two-column and sidebar designs suit applications you send directly to a person.
Start with the first job, student, internship or no experience resume. They lead with education, projects, volunteering and skills, which is what an employer looks at when you have little work history.
One page suits most people with under ten years of experience. Senior and specialist roles often need two pages, and the two-page resume template is laid out for that.
In the US, UK and Canada most employers prefer no photo. In parts of Europe, the Middle East and Asia a photo is common, so there are resume and CV templates with a photo space for those applications.
Send one whenever the application allows it. A short cover letter explains why you want this job and points to the two or three results on your resume that matter most for it.
All 126 templates are free, with no account or email needed.
They work in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word. Open any template to see whether it copies to your Google account, downloads as a file, or both.
