Small businesses and freelancers rarely have a brand team to answer every question, so the brand drifts: a stretched logo here, an off-shade green there. This brand style guide template puts the decisions in one short document: the brand story, logo rules, color values, fonts, imagery, voice and who approves exceptions. Each rule comes with the reason it exists, so people follow it instead of working around it.
The sample follows Elmstead Collective, a fictional neighborhood goods co-op, with a 24 mm minimum logo width, HEX, RGB and CMYK values for every color, two typefaces in six sizes, a 60/40 people-to-place photo ratio and three voice traits with before-and-after lines. Replace the logo, swatches and photos with your own, rewrite the voice examples, and add your approval email and turnaround time.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace the sample logo and update the minimum size and clear-space rules to match your artwork.
Swap the swatches for your brand colors, with HEX, RGB and CMYK values for screen and print.
Rewrite the three voice traits, add one real before-and-after from your own copy and replace the photos.
Add your approval email and turnaround time, delete the Make it yours page, then share the guide.
Yes. You can copy it to your own Google Drive at no cost and edit every page. There is nothing to install and no account beyond Google.
No. The organization, the people, the email addresses and every figure are fictional sample content. Replace them all with your own details.
Yes. Delete the pages you do not need, such as imagery or the glossary, and keep logo, color and fonts. Three pages is enough for many small businesses.
