Marketing budgets are often argued as last year's number plus a percentage. This deck treats the budget as an investment case: what last year's spend returned, where the new money would go, what happens at 15% less or 20% more, and exactly what finance is asked to approve.
The sample follows Fallowfield Collective, a fictional group of independent shops, asking for £360,000 against £318,000 spent last year, with a 4.0 to 1 return, a 20/25/25/30 phasing and a fallback if the budget is cut. Replace the figures with your own, state the basis for each return and name your finance contact.
Click Make a copy in Google Slides, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace last year's spend and return with your finance figures, then change the channel allocation until it adds up to the total you want approved.
Write the expected return beside each line with its basis, and update the three scenarios and the table of cuts.
Name the finance contact who confirms actual spend each month, and set the review dates on the ask slide.
Delete the Make it yours slide, then present the deck or share it with finance.
The sample uses 45% paid media, 20% content and SEO, 15% events, 10% tools and data and 10% people and agency fees. Adjust the split to your targets and make sure it adds up.
A single number leads to arbitrary cuts. Showing 15% less and 20% more, with the return each would deliver, lets finance choose with the trade-offs in view.
No. Fallowfield Collective, its people and every figure and email address in the sample are fictional and exist only to show what a finished deck looks like.
