Overview

Your store posts to a webhook when a cart is abandoned, with the customer's email, the cart ID and a link back to the cart. The workflow waits two hours, giving the shopper time to finish on their own.

After the wait, it asks your store whether an order exists for that cart. If none does, Gmail sends a short reminder with the cart link. Shoppers who already ordered get nothing, so the reminder never reaches a finished sale.

Useful for

  • Recover carts that were left because of distraction, not price
  • Avoid reminding customers who have already ordered
  • Keep the reminder short and tied to the exact cart

What's included

  • An n8n workflow with 5 nodes, ready to import
  • Trigger: Cart webhook
  • Connects HTTP, Gmail
  • Sticky notes on the canvas that explain what to set up
  • No credentials inside: you connect your own accounts

How to use it

  1. 1

    Download the workflow JSON.

  2. 2

In n8n, create a workflow, open the … menu, choose Import from File and select the JSON.

  3. 3

Replace the example order lookup URL on Check order status with your store's endpoint and add its authentication.

  4. 4

Connect Gmail on Send reminder and check the wording.

  5. 5

Send a test cart, check the reminder, then activate and paste the production webhook URL into your store.

What you need

Requirements

  • An n8n instance (cloud or self-hosted, version 1.x)
  • An online store that can post cart events to a webhook and expose an order lookup, plus a Gmail account

Works with

  • n8n 1.x (cloud or self-hosted)

Questions

Is this n8n workflow free?

Yes. Download the JSON and import it into your own n8n. There is no sign-up and no cost.

Does it include any credentials?

No. The file has no keys or tokens. Add your own store endpoint and Gmail account after importing.

Can I send a second reminder?

Yes. Add a second Wait node after Send reminder, then another check of the order status before the final email.
