Overview

Reps do not read a ten-page competitive analysis in the middle of a deal. This battlecard covers one rival on a few pages: an answer-first overview, why buyers choose them, why buyers choose you, the landmines to defuse, scripted replies to objections, and a status page with owners and review dates.

The sample is Larkspur Brands against a fictional rival, Tidewell Desk: a 41% win rate over 51 reviewed deals, setup in 9 days against 34, and $29 against $39 per user a month, each dated. Replace the competitor, figures, quotes and replies with your own, and cite a source and date for every claim.

Useful for

  • A product marketer arming reps before a quarter in which one rival appears in half of all deals
  • A sales enablement lead running a call review on how to handle a specific competitor's objections
  • A founder preparing the team for a rival's price cut or new launch with clear proof points

What's included

  • Answer-first overview with win rate, price gap and a recommendation
  • Where they win: buyer quotes and a short glossary of their claims, dated
  • Where we win: proof points, a review-rating chart and a customer quote
  • Landmine heat map and register with owners and responses
  • Objection table and scripted replies rated by likelihood and impact
  • Status page with KPIs, open risks and actions, plus a guide page

How to use it

  1. 1

Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.

  2. 2

Replace the competitor name, prices, review ratings and win rate with yours, and date every claim with its source.

  3. 3

Fill the win and lose themes from at least three lost-deal conversations and keep one buyer quote that praises the rival.

  4. 4

Rate each landmine and objection, give each an owner and write the reply reps should say.

  5. 5

Delete the Make it yours page, then share the card with sales and customer success.

Questions

Is this competitor battlecard template free?

Yes. Make a copy in Google Docs and it is yours to edit, with no sign-up here and no cost.

How many competitors should one battlecard cover?

One. Make a separate copy for each rival your team meets often, so reps can open the right card during a call and the proof stays specific.

Is the sample content real?

No. Larkspur Brands, Tidewell Desk, the people and every figure are fictional and made up for the example. Replace them with your own before you share it.
