Overview

Funder panels score every pitch against the same criteria, and weak ones tell the organisation's story instead of answering them. This grant proposal presentation template has eleven slides in the order a panel reads: the need, who is affected, your approach, the evidence, pilot results, the project plan, the budget, the ask and your contacts.

The sample follows Kettleby Group, which asks for £96,000 of a £120,000 budget over 24 months to help 480 children in six schools improve their reading, with £24,000 in match funding. Replace the need statement with local data and its source, rebuild the budget line by line, rewrite the outcomes as measurable results and set your own request.

Useful for

  • A charity presenting a two-year reading project to a trust's grant panel
  • A nonprofit explaining need, outcomes and budget to a programme officer before a full application
  • A local fundraiser sharing a funder pitch with trustees before the bid goes in

What's included

  • Cover and a problem slide with local data, plus a column slide showing who is affected
  • Four-step approach slide and four evidence cards that tie your method to results
  • Headline results from a pilot, with the figures a panel will check first
  • Project plan across 24 months, with hiring, delivery and handover steps
  • Budget chart showing how the £120,000 total splits, with the request and match stated
  • Ask slide, a Make it yours guide and a contacts slide

How to use it

  1. 1

Click Make a copy in Google Slides, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.

  2. 2

Read the funder's guidelines and use their criteria as your slide headings, then replace the need slides with local data, naming the source and year.

  3. 3

Rebuild the budget slide line by line with quantity times rate, and make the shares add to your request plus match funding.

  4. 4

Rewrite the results and project slides as three to five measurable outcomes with a baseline, then add your own ask and contacts.

  5. 5

Delete the Make it yours slide, then share the deck or present it to the panel.

Questions

Can I use this as a letter of inquiry or full application?

It works as a pitch deck and as an outline for a letter of inquiry. For a written application, copy the same sections into the funder's own form and stay within their word limits.

Are the organisation, people and figures real?

No. Kettleby Group, every person, school and figure are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own evidence, budget and request before you present.

How should the budget be split?

The sample puts 62% in staff, 20% in materials and delivery, 12% in core costs and 6% in evaluation. Check your funder's limits on overheads before you copy these shares.
