A safety policy fails when it is a generic document nobody owns. This template follows the standard three-part layout for small and mid-size employers: a signed statement of intent, who is responsible for what, and the arrangements that make it real, with a risk register, fire and first aid rules and an annual review.
The sample follows Inkberry Group, a 240-person print and packaging firm on three sites, with near-miss reports up to 402 a year, 20 recordable injuries and a 3 minute 40 second evacuation. Replace the statement with your own wording, name real people, rewrite the arrangements to fit your site and put the review date in the calendar.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace the statement of intent with your own wording and have the top person sign and date it.
Name the people who hold each responsibility, from director to fire warden to first aider, and update the RACI matrix.
Rewrite each arrangement to match how your site works, delete topics that do not apply and link each to a risk assessment with a review month.
Delete the guide page at the end, then share the policy with your team and put the annual review in the calendar.
It follows the usual structure of statement, responsibilities and arrangements, but laws vary by state and industry. Check the final policy against your local requirements and have a qualified adviser review it.
The sample uses 1 per 50 staff in offices and 1 per 20 on production floors. Your number depends on site risk and rules in your area, so set it from your own risk assessment.
No. Inkberry Group, its people, email addresses and every figure are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own details before you publish the policy.
