Workshops fail when the day is over-filled, nobody knows the output and the results are never circulated. This plan fixes that: a purpose stated as a decision, a participant list with roles, a minute-by-minute run sheet, exercises with timers, a materials and room checklist, and the outputs with owners and a follow-up date.
The sample follows Millrace Partners, a fictional professional services firm, running a one-day workshop for 12 people to choose three service lines to grow in 2027. It shows a 09:30 to 15:15 run sheet, two timed exercises, a three-dot vote and a write-up within two working days. Replace the purpose, people and timings with your own.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Write the purpose as a decision or output you want by the end of the session, and list participants with what each must prepare.
Replace the run sheet times, check they fit the room booking including breaks, then adapt each exercise and its timer.
Add a follow-up date for circulating the outputs and actions.
Delete the guide page, then share the plan with your co-facilitator and sponsor.
No. Millrace Partners, its people and every figure in the plan are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own workshop details.
Aim for four to eight sessions of 20 to 60 minutes with breaks of 10 to 15 minutes. The sample has six sessions, two timed exercises and a lunch break.
Three to six specific outputs with owners. The sample ends with three chosen service lines, a named owner for each and a write-up issued within two working days.
