Startup offers often leave out what candidates worry about most: whether the salary is gross, how many options they get, and when those options actually vest. This letter puts the role, pay, option grant, vesting schedule, conditions and acceptance deadline on one page, in plain language.
The sample is an offer from Dovecote Logistics to a Senior Operations Analyst: $96,000 a year, 10,000 options at $1.20 vesting over four years with a one-year cliff, and a March 23, 2027 deadline. Replace the figures with your approved offer, then have an employment adviser check the wording.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Fill in the candidate's name, role, manager, location and start date, then replace salary and option figures with the approved offer.
List only the conditions you need, with the date each must be met, and check the vesting and cliff wording against your option plan.
Have your employment adviser confirm the letter against local contract rules, then add the signatory and acceptance date.
Delete the guide page at the end, then share the letter with the candidate.
No. It is a plain-language starting point. Offer terms, option grants and withdrawal rules depend on local employment law and your plan documents, so have an adviser review it before use.
Not as written. A full employment letter can imply employee status for a freelancer, so use a separate engagement letter for contractors and check classification rules locally.
No. Dovecote Logistics, the people named and every figure and email address are fictional sample data, there to show what a finished offer letter looks like.
