A proof of concept goes wrong when nobody agreed what it had to prove. This plan fixes the scope, test cases, sample data, success criteria, timeline and sign-off in one document, so the buyer and the sales team judge the same evidence. Each page follows the order you will use it in, from what is in and out of scope to who signs at the end.
The sample shows Greystone Distribution running a 16-working-day proof for a warehouse buyer, with four success criteria, a 25,000-order test extract and a go or no-go decision on day 14. Every name, figure and date is fictional. Replace the scope, tests and success measures with what you agreed in discovery, and keep the decision date in the plan.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace the scope, test cases and success criteria with the points agreed in your discovery notes.
Swap the sample extract and figures for your own test data, and state the date each figure was taken.
Name real owners and dates for each test, then send the signed plan to the buyer before the proof starts.
Delete the guide page, then share the plan with the buyer or present it at the kick-off call.
No. Greystone Distribution, its people, the buyer and every figure are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own discovery notes and test results before you share the plan.
Most proofs run 14 to 30 days. Keep the window short enough that the buyer stays engaged, and fix the end date and the decision meeting in the plan from the start.
Record each missed measure with its owner and cause at the decision meeting. Agree in writing whether to stop, fix and retest, or change the scope, so that the proof always ends.
