A church budget is a promise to the congregation, so it needs to be clear about where giving comes from and where it goes. This template presents the year in eight pages: how giving is built, ministry budgets, staff, the building, mission giving and reserves, with a variance page that explains each change from plan. Each page uses plain numbers, so people who are not treasurers can follow it.
The sample is for the fictional Wrenfield Holdings, a congregation with £210k of planned spending, 62% on staff, a tenth of giving to mission partners and £214k forecast on the quarterly report. Replace the giving forecast, costs and names with your own, phase the budget month by month, and show the reserve as a line of its own.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace the Wrenfield Holdings name, the giving forecast and the staff contacts with your own figures.
Rebuild each budget line from its drivers, phase it by month and check the cash balance never falls below the minimum.
Delete the guide page, check that every total adds up, then share the budget with the council and congregation.
Yes. Click Make a copy in Google Docs and the file is saved to your own Google Drive, with no sign-up and no charge.
Yes. Delete the sections you do not need, such as mission giving or the building page, and keep the giving forecast and the monthly phasing, which matter most.
No. Wrenfield Holdings, its contacts, email addresses, giving and every figure are fictional sample data. Replace them before you use the budget.
