API Overview Deck

Integrators build on an API for years, so an unclear versioning policy turns every change into a support ticket. This deck explains the policy to developers and partners in five parts: why versioning matters, the rules for each version, the lifecycle timeline, the deprecation steps and the help available during migration. Each slide carries one rule or one date, so the argument can be followed and checked.
The sample is for the fictional Driftwood Systems, with a version 1 sunset in August, read-only mode from June and six months of notice for every partner. Replace the version names, dates, contacts and support terms with your own, and link each rule to the changelog entry that will record it.
Click Make a copy in Google Slides, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace the Driftwood Systems name, the version names and the sunset dates on the lifecycle slides with your own.
Write each breaking-change rule to match your changelog, and name a real contact for every migration area.
Delete the guide slide, check each date against the release plan, then share or present the deck to partners.

Yes. The same rules work for internal consumers, though you can usually shorten the notice period, provided each team is told in writing.
No. Driftwood Systems, its team members, contacts, dates and versions are fictional sample data. Replace them before you share the deck.
