Overview

This sustainability report template helps operations and sustainability leads account for greenhouse gas emissions in a form that investors, customers and regulators can check. It follows the GHG Protocol split into scope 1 direct fuel use, scope 2 purchased electricity and scope 3 value-chain emissions. The pages run from a summary and a method page that states the boundary, base year and emission factors, through one page for each scope, to a reduction plan with dated gates and named owners.

The sample shows a fictional manufacturer, Everdale Manufacturing, with four plants and 3,600 tCO2e of scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2026, down 9% on 2025. Scope 3 makes up 80% of the 18,000 tCO2e total, which is the usual pattern for a manufacturer. Replace the figures with your own metered data, change the boundary and base year to match your company, and rewrite the reduction levers in your own words. Leave out any figure you cannot source, and say so.

Questions

Is this template free to use?

Yes. Make a copy in Google Docs and it is yours to edit, with no sign-up on this page and no cost for the template.

Can I use it for a company that is not a manufacturer?

Yes. The scope pages and method notes work for any business. Change the scope tables, the emission factors and the boundary to match your operations and your reporting standard.

Are the company and figures real?

No. Everdale Manufacturing, its plants, its people and every emissions figure are fictional sample data, made up to show a finished report. Replace them with your own before you publish.
