Design debates drag on when each person argues from a different set of criteria. This deck states the decision needed, fixes the criteria first, gives each option the same treatment and ends on a recommendation with an owner and a date, so reviewers can agree, amend or reject.
The sample follows a fictional review at Foxhollow Digital on how order events reach billing at 2,500 requests per second: a database outbox, a managed queue and a self-run log. Replace the problem, the numbers, the options and the owners with those of your own review.
Click Make a copy in Google Slides, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Replace the decision, the deadline and the measured number on the second slide with your real problem.
Rename the three options and keep the criteria honest: include a criterion your preferred option does not win.
Update both option slides, the comparison grid and the verdict with your estimates, costs and owners.
Delete the Make it yours guide slide, then share the deck or present it.
The grid compares three options across seven criteria. For two options, drop the third column. For four, use the table slide to list the fourth with its main trade-offs.
No. Foxhollow Digital, the engineers, the email addresses and every figure are fictional sample content. Replace them with your own system, measurements and owners.
Agreeing criteria first stops the review from becoming a vote on favorites. Each option is then judged on the same grid, which keeps the comparison fair and the record clear.
