Investors write the next cheque based on whether they trust your updates. This template keeps the order that builds that trust: the headline and key figures first, metrics against target, the bad news in plain words, cash and runway in months, then a decision and named asks.
The sample is an October 2026 update from Glenmoor Partners: MRR up 9% to $182K, four of eight targets met, a lost account explained, 13.8 months of runway and a $500K bridge decision. Replace the month, your five metrics, the lowlights and the asks, and keep metric definitions fixed from month to month.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Set the reporting month and replace the headline with the single most important thing that happened.
Overwrite the scorecards with your five metrics and last month's values. Write the lowlights first, keep them to three honest lines, and recalculate runway from the last three months of burn.
Replace the asks with two or three named introductions or decisions you need, each with an owner and a date.
Delete the guide page, then export a PDF or share the document with your investors.
Short enough to read in five minutes. Lead with the headline and cash, put the bad news in the second half, and end with specific asks. Cut any metric you will not track every month.
Two or three things that went wrong, the cause, an owner and a date for the fix. Investors forgive problems you explain and punish ones they hear about from someone else.
No. Glenmoor Partners, its people, customers and every figure are fictional sample content. Replace all of it with your own business results.
