Startup values sound the same everywhere until they are tied to behavior. This template sets out a short culture code in ten slides: the principles, a working rhythm, how the team communicates and the bar for hiring. Each value comes with a behavior and a counter-example, so people can apply it on a Tuesday afternoon.
The sample is for Cobbleton Logistics, a fictional freight startup with five values, a weekly rhythm and a seven-person leadership group. Its names and norms are sample data. Replace the values and examples with your own, keep the list to five, and show the deck to ten employees before you publish it.
Click Make a copy in Google Slides, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Rewrite the mission and values in your own words, and keep the list to five.
Replace each example behavior with a real story from your own team.
Add a what-it-is-not line for every value, then test the deck with ten employees.
Delete the guide slide, add your hiring contacts, then share the code or present it.
Yes. Copy the deck to your Google Drive without charge, then rewrite each value in your team's words.
No. Cobbleton Logistics, its team and every norm are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own values and stories before sharing the code with candidates.
Five is a good limit. Fewer than that can feel thin, and more than six are hard for people to remember or apply when decisions get tough.
