Overview

This contractor exit template is a ready-made Google Docs checklist for companies that end contractor engagements. It covers the deliverables, the transfer of intellectual property, access removal and the final invoice across six designed pages, with an owner and a time for every step.

Each page carries sample steps for Amberley Logistics, a fictional freight company, and a fictional contractor. Replace the tools, names and times with your own, and check the IP clause with counsel before use. The access page is the one IT uses on the last day, so keep its times exact.

Useful for

  • Closing a six-month data contract with an outside analyst
  • Ending an agency placement for a warehouse systems engineer
  • Removing access for a contractor who leaves early

  • Access page with a layered diagram and checks
  • Final invoice page with a timeline and sign-off

Questions

Are the company and contractor real?

No. Amberley Logistics, its contractors, tools and dates are fictional sample material, written to show a finished offboarding checklist.

Can I use it for employees as well?

Partly. The access and equipment steps apply to anyone, but employees also need final pay, benefits and exit interview steps set by your employment policy.

What if a contractor will not sign the assignment?

Hold the final payment, as the contract allows, and take advice from counsel, since ownership of the work may not pass to you without a signed assignment.
