Founders often compute runway on today's burn, even though hiring will raise it. This plan works the other way round: it starts with the milestones that unlock the next round, adds the hires and spend that reach them, then shows runway under a base, cut and raise scenario with the month each one ends.
The sample is a fictional plan for Lindenhurst Advisory: £1.8M of cash, 12 staff, six planned hires, £1.86M of spend, 13 months of runway on the base plan and 23 months after a £1.5M seed round. Replace the cash, burn, hires, cash floor and milestones with your own, and rebuild runway from the last three months.
Click Make a copy in Google Docs, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Enter your opening cash and the last three months of net burn, then recalculate runway with your planned hires included.
Replace the milestones with the three outcomes that unlock your next raise, with dates, and rebuild the hiring plan with start months and fully loaded costs.
Set the cash floor that triggers cuts and list what you would cut first, then update the cash flow statement.
Delete the Make it yours guide page, then share the plan with your investors or present it.
Yes. It is a free Google Docs template. Make a copy to your own Drive, replace the sample figures with yours and share it with investors.
No. The organisation, the people and every figure are fictional. They are set up so the spend, burn, cash and runway add up, so replace them with your own numbers.
Runway is cash divided by the planned monthly net burn, including hires, not today's burn. The sample states the month cash ends and the floor that triggers cuts.
