A lender decides on repayment ability first and on the story second, so a loan deck has to lead with cash. This business loan proposal template takes the owner through the business, the purpose of the money, cash flow, repayment cover, security and the exact ask. It is short on purpose, because a credit officer reads the numbers before the pitch, and every slide is built to answer one of their questions.
The sample is for Birchfield Capital, a fictional cold-chain distributor asking for £350K over seven years at 8.5 per cent for a new cold room. It shows revenue of £4.8M, EBITDA of £520K, and debt service cover of 1.6 times against a lender minimum of 1.25 times. Replace the figures with your last three years of accounts and your forecast, and test cover with sales down 15 per cent before you present.
Click Make a copy in Google Slides, then confirm on the Google page. The copy is saved to your own Google Drive.
Enter your loan amount, term and purpose on the request slide.
Replace the financial tables with your last three years and current accounts.
Test debt service cover on your own EBITDA, with sales down 15 per cent.
Delete the guide slide, then share the deck or present it in full screen.
No. Birchfield Capital, its directors, accounts, forecasts and security are fictional sample data. Replace them with your own before you meet a lender, and never present a figure you have not checked.
It is the cash the business earns before debt payments, divided by the total payments due in the year. Lenders usually want at least 1.25 times, so a ratio of 1.6 leaves room for a weaker year.
Yes. Show what happens if sales fall by 15 per cent or margins fall by two points. A credit officer trusts a plan that admits where it breaks more than one that shows only the best case.
