Inspection and Test Plan

Projects fail quality reviews when standards are vague and nobody is clearly responsible for checking. This plan defines what each deliverable must meet, the inspection points and hold points where work stops until it is signed, who accepts it, and how defects become corrective actions. It is organised in five sections, and each one states who does what, against which standard, and where it is recorded.
The sample is written for the fictional Jasperfield Group, with a first-time pass rate of 94.1% against a 96% target, a cost of rework at £52k and two overdue corrective actions. Replace the standards, checks, severities and names with your own, mark the hold points that need sign-off, and name who owns the quality records and how often they are reviewed.

Replace the Jasperfield Group name, the standards and the document numbers with your own on the first two pages.
Replace the inspection checks, hold points and severities with your own, with an owner and due date for each.
Delete the guide page, check that every standard can be traced to a record, then issue the plan to the team.
