Overview

The Debt Payoff Planner template is for planning how to clear several debts. The Debts tab lists each balance, interest rate and minimum payment with a payoff order, the Payments tab logs what you pay and which debt it goes towards, and the dashboard shows the total paid and what is still owed.

It comes with sample data. Make a copy, replace the sample rows with your own, and the formulas, dropdowns and charts update on their own.

Questions

Is this Debt Payoff Planner template free?

Yes. The template is free to copy. Make a copy in Google Sheets, or download the Excel file and use it as you like.

Does it work in Excel?

Yes. Download the .xlsx file from this page and open it in Excel. The formulas, dropdowns and chart work the same way as in Google Sheets.

What is the difference between snowball and avalanche?

The snowball method pays off the smallest balance first. The avalanche method pays the highest interest rate first. Both pay the minimum on the other debts, and either works if you keep paying.
